Shiri Appleby was born to a Hebrew school teacher Dina nee Bouader and her telecom executive husband Jerry Appleby. She has a younger brother named Evan Appleby. Shiri is of Israeli and American Jewish descent. A high school graduate from Calabasas High School in 1997, Shiri Appleby majored in English literature from the University of Southern California. She has also pursued her theater studies.
In fact, Appleby's acting career has begun at the age of four when she faced arc lights for Raisin Bran advertisement, which unfortunately never went on air. Yet her career took off with various advertising campaigns such as Taco Bells, Cheerios, M&M's and several others.
Shiri Appleby who made her on-screen debut as a child star with a television play "Santa Barbara" in 1985; and a movie debut at the age of nine with "The Killing Time' in 1987 has literally spent her growing years in acting on television plays and movies. She had guest roles in television plays like "thirtysomething" {1987}, "Beverly Hills 90210" {1990}, a six-part role on "Sunday Dinner" {1991}, "Baywatch" {1997}, "Xena: Warrior Princess" {2 episodes: 1998} before landing a breakthrough role on "Roswell" {61 episodes: 1999-2002} where she played the role of Liz Parker. She continued her recurring roles on "Six Degrees" {6 episodes: 2006-2007} and "ER" {9 episodes: 1994-2009}.
